Recreation.gov preparation: check the facility’s booking window
Start with the exact campground, permit or timed-entry listing. Recreation.gov facilities set their own booking windows, so a release time from another park may not apply to your reservation.
Find the listing and its booking window
Use the facility’s own page to check when your date becomes reservable. Read its release schedule and reservation rules. A booking window describes how far ahead reservations open; it is not the same as your arrival or entry time.
Confirm the time zone before setting the timer
Check the time zone stated in the release notice. Select that zone when entering the opening time, particularly if you are booking from another country. Do not assume that all Recreation.gov facilities release reservations at one national time.
Prepare the reservation, not just the clock
Sign in and check the dates, group details and permit conditions for your chosen facility. Keep its booking page ready. If the reservation uses a lottery, a more precise click does not improve your lottery odds.
